Feeding the Body

"Stop thinking of your body as a machine that needs to be maintained and fed. It's time to consider it, instead, as simply a source of pleasure, whatever its shape, limitations, or imperfections."

--Rob Brezsny from Free Will Astrology

I was at the NW Women's Show all day so didn't get a post written, but here is a little something to help you take better care of YOUR fabulous body.

Ever since discovering the raw food movement at Thrive I have been having one of these almost every morning for breakfast and it is a great way to start the day!

This smoothie is 100% dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan - it is also delicious.

Simple Smoothie - serves 1 or 2, depending on serving size

3 ice cubes
1/2 to 3/4 C water
1 banana, medium to large
1/2 of an orange or 1 satsuma
1/2 to 1 C of frozen fruit of your choice

Place ice cubes in blender and pulse until broken up into small pieces.

Add water to cover ice pieces.

Add banana, a few small pieces at a time, blending after each addition.

Add oranges, one slice at a time, blending after each addition.

Add frozen fruit of your choice, 2 or 3 pieces at a time, blending after each addition. Add frozen fruit until taste and color are to your liking.

To make a "green" smoothie, add a handful of spinach or kale or Romaine lettuce (spinach is my favorite) after the banana.

ENJOY!
