Ho'oponopono

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Ho'oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian forgiveness ritual

This quote is from an ancient Hawaiian forgiveness ritual called Ho'oponopono that is rooted in the belief that illness was caused by a person's errors and could be cured using this process.

Modern Ho'oponopono teachings ask each of us to take full responsibility for that which comes into our lives and to work on our "problems" by working on ourselves.

The process itself is simple. When something painful or uncomfortable or scary comes up for you in your life you simply repeat the following four phrases over and over to yourself silently until that which created this event in your life is cleared:

I love you.

I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

Sometimes this will take minutes, sometimes hours, and sometimes days, but I have found that it always works because I am not trying to change the other person, only myself, my thoughts, my reaction.

If it sounds too good to be true, don't just take my word for it - give it a try for yourself!
